Daniella Hernandez

Daniella joined the Channel 5 Sports team in November 2023. Before becoming a sports reporter, she joined the KRGV family in January 2023 as an Associate Producer.

She is a proud Valley native, born in Harlingen and raised in Weslaco, graduating from Weslaco High School in 2017.

Her alma mater is the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, receiving her degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcasting in 2021.

Daniella was also a 4-Year UTRGV Cheerleader, where she competed at UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida and earned a top 5 finish every year, placing second in the nation in her last year.

Daniella worked as a Broadcasting Intern with the UTRGV Athletic Department. Upon graduation, she became a multimedia specialist with UTRGV Athletics. Daniella also worked hand in hand as a sideline reporter with ESPN+ to provide minute to minute game stats for UTRGV Basketball games.

Daniella has always loved sports, she played every single one of them growing up. Her favorite to play was definitely softball and soccer. Although she loves to watch football, especially while growing up in a Cowboys Nation family. Daniella’s passion has always been to tell stories, she is looking forward to sharing the stories of all the athletes in the Rio Grande Valley, a place she calls home. 

In her spare time, Daniella loves to be with her family and her friends, going to the movies, and staying active. You can always catch Daniella, with her shih tzu, Jonah, who’s always been at her side for 15 years.
