Younger Generations Continue to Return to El Sauz
EL SAUZ – A rural community in Starr County with decades-long history continues to be frequented by younger generations.
In the early 1940s, El Sauz’s population was about 20 people.
Nowadays, an annual cactus festival brings long-time residents and their families together to celebrate the small ranching community.
“Very tight-knight community and we just love it,” says Catholic Deacon Ross Pruneda. “We come over here every year and people from all over the place – they have roots here.”
