Will the Valley Experience Another Snow Day?
WESLACO – This Friday is the official start of winter and the big question on some Rio Grande Valley residents’ mind; will we see snow again this year?
It was Christmas Eve 2004 when snow came down in the middle of the night. For us in the Valley, it was special.
Meteorologist Tim Smith says everything that formed together came together perfectly.
“We had the cold temperatures in the upper atmosphere, enough moisture in the upper atmosphere and then a little disturbance came through all at the same time and it created the snow,” he explained.
Last year, the snow came during the day in plain sight for everyone to see, but soon it started to fall more rapidly and accumulate.
