WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley father reunited with his little girl, who was in Puerto Rico when a deadly earthquake hit last week. The family is now pushing to help others on the island.

Since Dec. 28, more than 1,000 earthquakes have struck the southern region of the U.S. territory, leaving thousands living on the streets, seeking shelter or in-need of resources.

B&R Emergency Response Corp, a nonprofit in the Valley, is collecting basic necessities for people in Puerto Rico, such as: lanterns, flashlights with batteries, water, blankets, hand sanitizer and wipes. They plan to have the items distributed over the next few days.
