EDINBURG – A Rio Grande Valley couple who have faced challenges with their health are now worried about getting evicted.

Sally Flores is legally blind and her husband is bedridden.

She says they recently received a grant to remodel their home in order to make it more accessible.

The rent was increased by $40 shortly after the work was finished – an amount Flores says she can’t afford. Flores paid the original amount of the rent and was given a letter of eviction.     

KRGV’s Christian Colón reached out to the property manager to learn more about the situation.

If they are not able to pay the original amount, they will be forced to move out and lose all the government-funded remodeling.
