A building on University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley Edinburg campus has reopened following an overnight gas leak.

UTRGV alerted the public of a gas leak Thursday evening at the Health Affairs East Building.

According to Edinburg city spokeswoman Roxanne Lerma, the gas leak was found in a water heater and the gas supply to the building was shut off.

The gas was shut off and the building was aired out and closed overnight. Students and staff were allowed back Friday morning.
