UTRGV Brownsville Graduation Relocates to McAllen Due to Threat of Inclement Weather
BROWNSVILLE – A graduation ceremony scheduled for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Brownsville will relocate to McAllen due to the threat of inclement weather.
Friday’s outdoor commencement ceremony, originally scheduled to be held outside the UTRGV Brownsville campus, will now take place at the McAllen Convention Center.
According to UTRGV, doors will open at 6 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., an hour later than previously scheduled to allow extra travel time for those planning to attend.
Tickets to enter the ceremony will not be required, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Saturday’s graduation ceremonies for UTRGV Edinburg campus will proceed as scheduled at the convention center.
UTRGV said it will offer shuttle services from Brownsville to McAllen for families who need transportation. People who need the shuttle must sign up by filling out a UTRGV Fall 2017 Commencement Transportation form by noon on Friday, Dec. 15.
A shuttle will leave the Brownsville at 4 p.m. and will arrive in McAllen at 5:30 p.m.
The shuttle will return to Brownsville by 11:30 p.m.
