MCALLEN – The Texas Department of Transportation announced frontage lane closures this week.

The closures are due to the ongoing construction of the Bicentennial project in McAllen.

The shut downs will occur Wednesday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

On the westbound frontage lane, closures will stretch from 2nd to 26th streets. Officials also say eastbound frontage lane will be closed at the 23rd Street intersection.

In addition to the frontage lane closures in McAllen, TxDOT is reminding the public about closures on Expressway 83 this week Tuesday, Oct. 29 to Thursday, Oct. 31 for overnight operations.

All lanes on westbound Expressway 83 will be closed from McColl Road in McAllen to Stewart Road in San Juan from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.

Officials remind drivers to slow down and obey posted road signs in the work areas.
