Trial Begins for 2015 Capital Murder Case
MCALLEN – A woman accused in a 2015 high-profile capital murder case appeared before a jury Monday.
Monica Melissa Patterson is charged with capital murder in the death of her client, 96-year-old Martin Knell.
Patterson is accused of killing Knell by asphyxiation while working at Casa De Consuelo Comfort House in McAllen.
A criminal complaint reveals Patterson and co-defendant, Angel Mario Garza, told Knell’s caretaker to lie to authorities about what happened.
More than 250 potential jurors were called.
