WESLACO – Misinformation about a change to Texas’ insurance claims process has been circulating in social media.

According to Texans for Lawsuit Reform, HB 1774 will not impact the insurance claim process at all.

Although the legislation goes into effect Sept. 1, it changes nothings for clients when filing claims after Hurricane Harvey damage.

The bill only applies to a lawsuit that is filed against an insurance company by a policyholder when the insurance claim is not paid.

The vast majority of insurance customers never have to file a lawsuit, according to TLR.
