A third person has died in the head-on, wrong-way crash in Palmview, according to the Texas Department of Pubic Safety.

Mission resident Efren Garcia-Saldivar, 22, was one of the drivers involved in the Aug. 14 crash that happened on Texan Road south of Freedom Avenue, north of Palmview. On Tuesday, DPS announced he died from his injuries on Monday, Aug. 17.

As previously reported, a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Texan Road and a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound on the wrong side of the road when it collided with the Ford.

Garcia-Saldivar was the driver of the Chevrolet. His passenger, 19-year-old Brianna Yatziri Saucedo, died at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 25-year-old Jonathan Tellez-Sosa, also died at the scene.

The passenger of the Ford was also hospitalized and remains in critical condition.
