Terror Attacks Cause for Concern for UTRGV Groups Studying Abroad
EDINBURG - A University of Texas Rio Grande Valley professor said he's worried about future student trips abroad following the terror attacks in the United Kingdom.
Bruce Reed, director of School of Rehabilitation at UTRGV, said he was on a 16-day trip in England with 13 UTRGV students when the Manchester bombing happened.
Reed said he noticed police presence when they arrived in London after the bombing. He said the group was back in the U.S. when the London bridge attack happened.
"Professors, we know who our students are; primarily younger undergraduates who have not traveled from home. That's one of the reasons we go on these trips. They're concerned. Their families are really concerned," he said.
Reed said he would go back to London because he's not going to live in fear. However, he said it's a different when thinking about taking students.
