The tide has gone up at South Padre Island amid the development of potential heavy rain.
The beach is slowly disappearing, and the wind is picking up.
The new conditions are cause for celebration for the surfing community.
Surfers and kite surfers will try their luck on Wednesday at the Brazos Santiago Pass.
“When it's good, it's the best surfing in Texas," Aarin Hartwell said.
On Wednesday, the tide may rise as high as three feet.
“This storm has some energy offshore, it's piling up some water towards the coast of Texas," Texas A&M Sea Grant Extension Agent Tony Reisinger said.
