MCALLEN – A structure fire near Nikki Rowe High School in McAllen is under control.
Crews responded to an abandoned home on the 2000 block of North Ware Road Tuesday afternoon.
Fire officials say they have not ruled out arson in the case. They say no power was running through the home.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS also spoke to the owner of the property.
“I don’t know. My brother told me there was a fire and that my house was on fire,” she says. “I said, ‘No, it’s not.’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, the one on Ware Road is.’ I said, ‘Oh my gosh! What do you mean it’s on fire?’ He said, ‘There’s smoke everywhere. There’s fire trucks everywhere.’ So I rushed over here.”
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
