MCALLEN – The city of McAllen will be adopting a stricter smoking ordinance next year.
Right now people are allowed to smoke inside of McAllen bars.
Once the new ordinance takes effect, smokers will have to be 10 feet away from the building. The new ordinance will also ban smoking in all McAllen public parks.
The city said violators may face fines ranging from $100 to $500.
