State seeking death penalty against Alamo man charged in fatal motel stabbing
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against a 27-year-old Alamo man accused of killing two men in a fatal March 2023 stabbing in McAllen, court records show.
Carlos Antonio Cardenas Jr. is charged with capital murder of multiple persons and criminal attempted murder in connection with the stabbing.
A March 25 court filing shows Cardenas’ attorney was notified of the state’s intent to seek the death penalty.
Cardenas was arrested after officers with the McAllen Police Department responded to a report of a “bleeding man at the front desk” of the Motel 6 on the 700 block of Expressway 83, according to previous reports.
