State Commission Places Hidalgo Co. District Judge on Suspension
MCALLEN – The State Commission on Judicial Conduct has placed a Hidalgo County district judge accused of bribery on suspension.
Effective immediately, Judge Rudy Delgado is suspended without pay from the 93rd Judicial District Court for Hidalgo County.
New court documents were also filed Wednesday revealing additional charges against the district judge.
Delgado was accused of bribery last month.
A grand jury deemed there is enough evidence in the case to formally charge the judge with more than bribery.
A federal indictment filed Wednesday charges Delgado with three counts of bribery and three counts of violation of the Travel Act.
The indictment was a necessary step before the Commission could make a decision.
Delgado is out on a $100,000 bond.
The initial suspension order with the indictment can be read below.
