SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Officials at South Padre Island are cracking down on the issue of glass found at the beach.
The city broke a record by handing out nearly 1,000 warnings this year.
Those cited must go before a judge who determines how much you will have to pay – the fine could be up to $2,000.
Glass warnings increased to over 800 this year but citations went down. Officials credit this to the extra signs they’ve put up.
KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro explains violators receive a verbal warning then a written warning before receiving a ticket.
If you come across glass, call 956-761-5454.
