Spectrum donation helping Harlingen foster children receive new shoes
A Corpus Christi-based non-profit is making sure foster children in Harlingen are starting the new school year on the right foot thanks to Spectrum.
Foster Angels of South Texas will be providing new shoes to 100 kids in Harlingen thanks to a $5,000 donation from Spectrum that was made during a Wednesday ceremony.
“I feel like it brings a lot of confidence for these kids to get a brand-new pair of shoes,” Foster Angels of South Texas Director Lucy Woltoff said. “Their circumstances, they didn’t ask for this, and if we could provide them with a brand-new pair of shoes and the confidence and self-esteem for their first day of school — I think it’s really important to start the year off right.”
Woltoff says her ultimate goal is to make sure all 500 foster children in the Valley feel taken care of like their peers.
“I know that it brings confidence in my children, I can only imagine what it does for kids in foster care,” Woltoff said.
