Special Needs Children Shape 'A League of Their Own'
BROWNSVILLE – A group of Rio Grande Valley parents put together a great night for a group of special children who just wanted a chance to play baseball.
The group that organized is called “Down by the Border” and every special child has a partner.
The president of the organization, Sergio Zarate, was influenced by his daughter who has Down syndrome and is autistic.
“She came into this world like God sent her. Who are we to say ‘you can’t play? Just because we have a little special need?’” said Zarate.
