South Padre Island hotel seeking suspects involved in vandalism
The Courtyard by Marriott at South Padre Island is asking for the public's help in finding a group of men that vandalized their hotel Saturday night.
The hotel said a group of Spring Breakers vandalized their third floor by setting off a fire extinguisher. The act was caught on camera and shows five males taking part, one was even wearing a ski mask, but there are clear photos and video of the whole incident.
Assistant General Manager Aldo Reyes said he thinks the group of males are guests staying at the hotel.
"We didn't know what was going on. We saw a lot of smoke on the third floor. We actually thought the building was burning. But after no signs of fire and looking at cameras, it turns out they were just messing around with the fire extinguisher," Reyes said.
The vandalism led to an hour-long evacuation of the entire building. Anyone with any information can call the hotel at 956-433-0590. The hotel is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the individuals.
