South Padre Island Creates New Emergency Notification System
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND--The city of South Padre Island is creating a new emergency notification system called Swift911.
The goal is to notify people who live on the South Padre Island, businesses and even visitors of any emergency situations.
The emergency notification system is web-based giving the city the ability to send messages day or night.
Some residents said they will sign up because they were on the island during Hurricane Dolly.
"I saw awnings fly. I saw windows break, balcony railings flying all over the place like a piece of paper," said Roberto Olivares.
With hurricane season just around the corner, many people are looking to be prepared.
