PHARR – A Rio Grande Valley army soldier surprised his 5-year-old daughter after being gone for more than six months.

Longoria Elementary staff helped him to surprise his daughter on her last week of school camp.

The soldier had been gone for basic training and advanced individual training.

He tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS that this was the longest he’s ever gone without seeing his daughter.
