Suspect charged in connection with crash that injured San Juan police officer
Bond was set Friday for the man charged in connection with a four-vehicle crash that injured a San Juan police officer and six other people.
Jose Luna, 58, was arrested Friday in Pharr in connection with the crash that happened Wednesday afternoon.
Luna was arraigned on Friday and charged with robbery, child endangerment, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. His bond was set at $475,000.
As previously reported, the crash occurred on Wednesday as a result of a police chase after San Juan police officers responded to a report of an assault. The suspect, later identified as Luna, allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, put a child at risk and then stole her vehicle.
San Juan Police Chief Leandro Sifuentes said the San Juan police officer injured in the crash has been released from the hospital and is doing OK.
