ROMA – When he took the job as the head basketball coach, Roma Independent School District was just building its first gym.

It’s been 51 years since Coach Eleuterio Garza Jr. took the job at the school district. He produced three all-state superstars.

The Roma ISD school board voted to name the high school gym floor for the man who brought so much fame to the district.
