Tide levels across the coast in Cameron County remained high on Thursday despite the sunny conditions.

The tide levels were reaching as much as two and a half feet above average since Tuesday when Tropical Storm Alberto began forming.

Port Isabel resident Greg Groce’s boat ramp was several feet underwater due to the tide. The road leading into the Fingers community he lives in was flooded as the tide spilled onto the road.

Fisherman Rick Galvan said the tide is making it tougher, as the current is scattering the fish all over.

Strong waves were crashing against the rocks over at the Brazos Santiago Pass as a few kite surfers dared to step off into the water, and challenge the waves.

The high tide pushed up debris and litter to high watermarks.
