Most of the last week’s rain stayed downstream from the Amistad and Falcon reservoirs that supply water to the entire Rio Grande Valley.
Maria Elena Giner, commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission, said the Falcon Reservoir only saw a two-foot gain from the storm.
“And we'll be entitled to a portion of that water,” Gainer said.
Falcon Reservoir is about 90 miles upriver from the Valley. That reservoir increased by 36,000 acre feet, or a 5% increase to our water supply.
Water restrictions remain in place for Valley cities.
