SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Beachgoers headed to South Padre Island will notice some changes at Beach Access 5.

At the entrance of EK Atwood Park are five covered pavilions, showers, restroom, dune walk-overs and food truck vendors.

Cameron County Parks and Recreation officials say an increase in admission fees helped pay for the renovations.
