Records: Suspension of San Juan city manager linked to grievance filed against him
Last month’s weeklong suspension of San Juan’s city manager was linked to a grievance filed against him, according to records obtained by Channel 5 News.
San Juan City Manager Ben Arjona was suspended without pay on September 24, and was back on the job the following week.

According to a letter dated Oct. 2 from the city of San Juan’s human resources director, Arjona was suspended after a grievance was filed against him. As part of the suspension, Arjona was required to apologize to the person who filed the grievance against him.
San Juan Mayor Mario Garza confirmed to Channel 5 News that the individual who filed the grievance against Arjona was a female city employee.
Details of what was in the grievance filed against Arjona were not immediately available.
As part of the suspension agreement, Arjona’s performance will be monitored and evaluated 60 days from the date of the letter.
