The city of Raymondville is opening up a warming center on Wednesday, according to commissioner Joel Garcia.

The warming center is set to open on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Raymondville Community Center, located at 523 West Hidalgo Avenue.

The opening of the warming center will happen on the same day an Arctic front is set to arrive in the Rio Grande Valley.

According to our First Warn 5 Weather Team, a front will make its way through the Valley early Wednesday morning. Temperatures are expected to be in the 40s with a 20% chance of showers during the cloudy and windy day.

So far in the Valley, no other warming center was announced.

The center will close on Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon. Those wanting to come in must register at the Raymondville Police Department first, and bring  all necessary medication, blankets, food and pillows.
