Port of Harlingen celebrating growth in business with new look
According to an economic impact study, the Port of Harlingen saw an 108% increase in jobs between 2018 and 2022.
The port also saw an increase of 111% in tax revenue in that same time frame.
"We're always looking to be able to expand and bring in new jobs and opportunities for the Rio Grande Valley,” Port of Harlingen Director Walker Smith said.
At the beginning of 2023, the port rolled out a new logo. New signage is expected to go up in about five months.
In 2022, the port saw more than $1.79 billion in economic activity. It’s an increase from the $1 billion in activity seen in 2018.
“There's a lot of opportunity here,” Smith said. “There are a lot of industries and a lot of businesses that are looking in the Rio Grande Valley."
