A 13-year-old student with the South Texas school district is in custody after threatening to take a gun to school on social media, according to police.

The student with the South Texas ISD Rising Scholars Academy said he was joking, but was arrested Wednesday.

The student is facing charges, a police spokesperson with the San Benito Police Department said.
