A homicide investigation is underway in Weslaco after police say a man died from a gunshot wound Saturday.

The Weslaco Police Department initially asked the public to avoid the area near 6th Street and Bridge Avenue Saturday night.

Authorities have not released more details of the victim or any possible suspects.

The case remains under investigation.
