Photographer’s Perspective: News By the Light of the Silvery Moon
WESLACO – News gathering never stops. While most people are sound asleep, the CHANNEL 5 NEWS morning crew is already hitting the streets for stories.
The usually busy streets of downtown are peacefully silent and empty, sometimes even eerie, as the crew sets up their shot for the morning newscast. Benches along the street quietly await the shoppers who will arrive later in the day. Traffic lights are still in sleep mode.
On the upside, the crew has their choice of prime parking spaces and don’t have to worry about parking tickets. They’re occasionally joined by street sweepers, busy leaf blowers, and critters of the night.
The crew is often in some dark corner of the Rio Grande Valley. Working under the light of the silvery moon does bring an anticipated daily reward. Each morning, they get to see another spectacular Rio Grande Valley sunrise.
