The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate a workplace accident in Brownsville that killed a construction worker, Channel 5 News has learned.
Jose Angel Herrera Castelan died on Wednesday evening after a compactor he was operating tipped over and landed on him near the intersection of Padre Island Highway and Austin Road, according to a spokesperson with the Brownsville Fire Department.
Channel 5 News reached out to the U.S. Department of Labor, and was told on Thursday that OSHA had opened an investigation into the accident.
The spokesperson said no other information was available, but did provide a link to OSHA practices on handling heavy machinery that can be found here.
