Hidalgo and Starr County fire departments responded to a massive brush fire north of La Gloria Wednesday afternoon.

Starr County officials said fire crews contained the fire that destroyed two homes and several vehicles as it stretched 500 acres.

A portion of FM 755 remains closed as efforts to extinguish the fire continue.

The Starr County Emergency Management Team urges residents living in the area to stay on alert due to the wind factor and follow safety precautions.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
