No serious injuries were reported Tuesday after the pilot of a small plane crashed into a runway sign at the Mid-Valley Airport, according to the Weslaco Fire Department.
First responders arrived at the scene Tuesday at around 2 p.m. after the pilot said wind gusts pushed the plane off the runway and into the sign, according to Weslaco Fire Chief Anthony Lopez.
“It was damaged coming into land at the airport, the FAA has been notified,” Lopez added.
The unidentified pilot was the only person inside the plane, and Lopez said he was not seriously hurt.
