New Hidalgo Co. Courthouse Construction to Divert Traffic
EDINBURG – Changes are on their way to downtown Edinburg.
Anyone who regularly commutes by the Hidalgo County Courthouse will soon need to readjust their route.
Jonathan Almanza, the Hidalgo County intergovernmental affairs director, says construction plans will be shifting 300 parking spots next month.
“There will no longer be any southern axis to the Hidalgo County Courthouse as the new courthouse will sit in the southern portion of the town square. All visitors will have to come through McIntyre (Street), which is the north entrance,” explained Almanza.
The portion of Closner Blvd that takes drivers through the old courthouse will be closed.
