Neighbor of Donna police chief accused of threatening to kill him
A Donna Public Works employee was arrested and accused of threatening the city’s police chief, officials said.
Donna City Manager Carlos Yerena confirmed to Channel 5 News that Enrique Rocha was arrested and arraigned Tuesday following a threat made against police chief Gilbert Guerrero.
A complaint obtained by Channel 5 News identified Rocha as the police chief's neighbor.
According to the complaint, Rocha was arrested after officers with the Donna Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of South FM 493 on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Officers at the scene made contact with Guerrero, who reported that his neighbor "got upset" at him and told Guerrerro to "come to the street and he would kill him."
"Guerrero stated he observed the defendant run inside his residence... thinking he was going to get a weapon which caused Gilbert Guerrero to fear for his life," the complaint stated.
Rocha is no longer employed with the city, Yerena stated.
Hidalgo County jail records show Rocha was charged with terroristic threat against a peace officer or judge. His bond was set at $40,000 and he remains in custody as of Wednesday morning.
The arrest was made the day after Guerrero was reinstated as police chief following a paid suspension due to an internal investigation against him.
