MCALLEN – Authorities are clearing out the area at the La Plaza Mall in McAllen after reports of a possible active shooter situation.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told that law enforcement is now investigating a robbery attempt at a jewelry store.

All known suspects are in custody. 

The Hidalgo County Constable Precinct 4 had received reports of shots being fired in the mall Saturday afternoon.

We're told that no shots were fired and the reports of gunfire were attributed to smashing glass cases.

Officials from multiple local and federal agencies with tactical gear assisted and cleared rooms in the mall.

No injuries have been reported.

We have received no confirmation of a weapon being used during the robbery.
