MCALLEN – The McAllen Police Department is looking for a burglary suspect.

Images of the suspect were caught on surveillance camera.

Some of the burglaries happened at businesses along the 2200 block of West Trenton Road. The incidents were reported to police last Tuesday.

Other burglaries were reported on Monday on the 6100 block of North 23rd and the 3300 block of North McColl.

Martin Briseno, owner of E-Z Cuts on East Nolana, said the register was empty so the burglar left immediately.

“On the surveillance footage it shows that he came in through the – well, he broke the front glass, came in, took about roughly 10 seconds in here and was able to get out before anybody showed up,” he said.

Briseno said it isn’t the first time his store has been robbed.

He said a man came through a wall and stole equipment about nine months ago.

“It was about $2,500 worth of damage and he was caught. They got that guy,” he said.

Briseno hopes the images police released will help identify the suspect before he strikes again elsewhere.

Esmie Lopez is a property manager for several McAllen shopping centers. She said a total of seven properties were targeted.

“Three of our properties were hit as of last Monday... I hope they catch him. Hopefully someone can help us find out who he is,” she said. “He’s don’t I think 12 locations in the last six days. So, he’s done some damages.”

Police said the suspect was carrying a hatchet or a small axe. An unknown amount of cash was stolen during the course of the robberies.

Anyone with information regarding the string of burglaries can call McAllen Crime Stoppers at 956-687-8477.
