EDINBURG – The man responsible for a deadly street race will be spending the next six years behind bars.
Ciro Manuel Trevino pled guilty to racing on North 10th Street in McAllen that resulted in the death of a man.
Marcelo Flores, 20, lost his life in the accident Jan. 2016.
Flores’ father, Abel Flores, spoke out about the dangers of excessive speeding and street racing.
“I don't want nobody to do this. Not only can they kill themselves, they can kill somebody else and it can cause a lot of family problems like the one that I'm in right now,” said Flores.
Flores said if drivers want to race, to do it at a racetrack where it’s a controlled environment.
He said the sentencing could never bring his son back.
