WESLACO – A program announced by the city of McAllen for low-income families to get affordable internet access is actually available to families all over the Rio Grande Valley.
It’s a long-time federal program by the Federal Communications Commission.
The Lifeline Program allows qualifying families to get phone or internet service for just $9.25 a month.
The federal agency recently rolled back some of the funding for that program, but those who qualify can still apply for the assistance.
