LA VILLA - Many Rio Grande Valley residents are taking a moment to recognize local veterans this Memorial Day.

In La Villa a “Wall of Heroes” was just unveiled, honoring 42 service members.

"Our true heroes are the ones that are up on the wall. Our true heroes are the ones that have passed away that have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Those are our true heroes,” says local veteran Benito Contreras.

The wall commemorates those who went to school in La Villa or settled in the town.
