La Joya city manager announces resignation plans
La Joya’s city manager announced he will resign from his position at the end of his contract.
Leo Olivares took the job nearly three years ago, and he says it’s time to move on.
“It was a challenge. La Joya's been through a rough spot in the last few years, so we had the opportunity to set it on the right track,” Olivares said. “I'm very proud of the work we've done here. The council’s been great, we've done ethics training for the entire council."
Olivares says city leaders have three people “in the running" to replace him. The city will discuss their options at a city council meeting set for Wednesday, Aug. 14.
