La Feria high school students receive ‘reality check’ ahead of graduation
Seniors at La Feria Early College High School received some real-world lessons as they prepare to graduate.
A total of 250 seniors are expected to walk across the stage. While it can be an exciting time, some students said it could be scary.
On Thursday, the school provided their first ever “Senior Reality Check” session to provide life lessons students say they know they need to be better prepared for the future.
“A lot of the kids are starting to ask, ‘what's next, what comes after class?’” La Feria Early College High School Assistant Principal David Rebollar said. “So we just want to make sure the kids are ready for the real world."
On Thursday, students learned about budgeting, and other lessons related to finances.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety also got involved in the session by telling students what to expect when they’re pulled over, and how to properly interact with officers.
Students say they hope the district continues this event in the years to come.
