Judge to decide on DA's dismissal from Edinburg mayoral voter fraud case Tuesday
A hearing in the voter fraud case against Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina was held Monday.
Molina’s attorney, Carlos Garcia, previously filed a motion to disqualify Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez from prosecuting the case.

The motion claims that the district attorney’s aunt, Mary Alice Palacios, lost a lucrative contract with Edinburg while he was mayor, and that the DA should recuse himself for the "obvious" conflict of interest.
Nine witnesses were subpoenaed to testify, and Garcia says these witnesses will show that this case is being pushed along because of a personal agenda.

Molina is still awaiting trial on charges of voter fraud. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Molina is also engaged in a run-off election for another term as Edinburg mayor that’s set for next month.
Whether or not Rodriguez will be disqualified from the case will be decided by a judge Tuesday.
