HOUSTON (AP) - Police say they're looking for three suspects in the fatal shooting of an armored car guard during a holdup in northwestern Houston.

A police statement says the Thursday afternoon shooting happened outside a Popeye's restaurant.

Investigators say Francis Hazzard, a 68-year-old guard with Loomis Cash Handling Co., had just emerged from the restaurant with a black bag of cash in his hand. Three armed masked men approached him and tried to snatch the bag.

Hazzard resisted, and a struggle ensued until one of the masked men shot Hazzard once in the face. As Hazzard fell to the ground, he dropped the bag and his own weapon.

The suspects grabbed the bag and fled in a champagne-colored Chevrolet Tahoe before switching to a black 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
