Hidalgo County Health and Human Services is bringing back a free healthy living course in Pharr and registration is already open.

The agency is teaming up with the city for the Eating Smart Being Active program. Participants will learn about nutrition, exercise and other healthy habits.

The program runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Pharr Discovery and Research Center. It starts Sept. 1, 2026.

The state health department is funding the program, and the first session ran in June.

"The first one was such a hit. We had around 44 participants on average, and we had 50 celebrated ones, so it showed how much the community wanted it and then we also got more notifications on social media asking when we could come back. So we decided to partner with Pharr again and bring it back in September," Hidalgo County Public Health Technician Evelyn Rodriguez said.

Thirty people have already signed up. Walk-ins are welcome.
