EDINBURG – A program to help Rio Grande Valley families with their utility bills is getting funding.

Jamie Longoria, director of Hidalgo County Community Services Agency told CHANNEL 5 NEWS in July, they had met their quota. He now said that they have more funds.

The agency will begin accepting 30 new applications a day starting Monday, August 7, until they run out of funding.

Fifteen applicants will be selected at 8:30 a.m. and another 15 will be selected at 1:30 p.m. each day. People interested in applying for assistance are encouraged to arrive prior to each of those times.

The agency will select people at random to avoid people spending the night at the agency.

Applicants will be asked to provide necessary information such as proof of residency, proof of identity, proof of income and their most current electric bill.

The Hidalgo County Community Services Agency is located on 2524 North Closner Boulevard, Edinburg, Texas 78541.

For more information, please call (956) 383-6240 during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
